ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ages 5 and up, mixture of coverage to the child/adolescent and adult inpatient BH unit.
  • Plans and delivers mental health treatment for adult, adolescent, and/or children using generally accepted psychotherapeutic modalities of treatment. 
  • Understanding of DBT is beneficial, but training is provided for all employees in DBT therapy and skills. It is not a prerequisite for the position.
  • Primary duties would be to conduct one-time family assessments which would go over progress made while the patient was in the hospital.  This would involve meeting with the patient to go over their completed handouts and assess what issues should be addressed in the family meeting and assess any outpatient recommendations that might be made. 
  • A typical family assessment would be 30-45 minutes with the family to assess concerns, psychosocial stressors, progress made during hospitalization, and assessment of safety.  The second half of the meeting is another 30-45 minutes and would integrate the patient into the meeting with the family where the child would discuss the same issues and process these things together as a family system.  Some patients discharge after the family meeting, while others primary purpose is collateral information to refine the treatment plan.
  • All findings would be discussed with the psychiatrist and care team to be integrated into the care/treatment plan.  Care meetings are held on a daily basis.
  • Understands and applies the diagnostic criteria in the DSM 5, ICD-10 and other current diagnostic lexicons utilized by Essentia Health.
  • Makes appropriate decisions to involve others in the care of the patient, and effectively engages their involvement through case conferences, consultation and/or referrals.
  • Able to understand and incorporate psychiatric and psychological assessments and recommendations into the treatment plan of the patient.
  • Delivers individual, group or family therapy as prescribed by the treatment plan, continuously evaluating progress and revising the plan when indicated.
  • Recognizes when maximum benefits have been attained from treatment and enlists the patient in planning for discharge.
  • Ensures that treatment planning and discharge planning reflects the standards and boundaries of regulatory agencies and third party payers, including timely completion of prior authorizations.
  • Accurately documents all clinical activities and treatment provided within the medical record time parameters defined by Essentia Health.
  • Performs Essentia-wide duties as requested by the designated Essentia leader.
  • Upholds Essentia Health’s mission, vision, values and ethical standards and demonstrate the behavioral and service expectations as defined in our policies and procedures.
  • Hours:  .7 FTE, team provides 7 day a week coverage, 7:30am-4:00pm/ 8:00-4:30 pm shifts. Would be required to work every third Saturday (no Sundays). 

 Educational Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, clinical counseling, psychology, or other discipline that meets eligibility requirements for licensure in the primary state of practice

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a medical or behavioral health setting
  • Experience providing care to a diverse population

Certification/Licensure Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice psychotherapy in the state in which the position is based. Licensed or license-eligible to provide telehealth services in other states in the market

Minnesota:

  • Licensed Independent Clinical Social Workers (LICSW) or
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or
  • Licensed Professional Counselor or (LPC) or
  • Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)

Minimum for Non-credentialed Therapist - $30.28

Minimum for Credentialed Therapist - $33.31
