Job Description:

Functions under the supervision of an RN in providing technical interventions in the Operating Room to patients of all ages. They are also responsible for tasks relating to instrumentation, equipment, prosthesis, and supplies. May perform other duties as assigned by the department.

Education Qualifications:

East Market:

  • Graduate of accredited Surgical Technologist program or completion an Essentia Health Surgical Technologist Apprentice Training Program


Brainerd Lakes:

  • Graduate of accredited Surgical Technologist Program

OR

  • Completion an Essentia Health Surgical Technologist Apprentice Training Program

OR

  • 6 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist with the demonstrated qualification to sit for certification exam.


Virginia and Grand Rapids Locations only:

  • Graduate or Certification from accredited surgical technologist program or graduate of accredited practical nursing program

OR

  • Completion an Essentia Health Surgical Technologist Apprentice Training Program


West Market:

  • Graduate of accredited Surgical Technologist program

OR

  • Completion an Essentia Health Surgical Technologist Apprentice Training Program


Fosston Location only:

  • Graduate or Certification from accredited surgical technologist program, or graduate of accredited practical nursing program

OR

  • Completion an Essentia Health Surgical Technologist Apprentice Training Program

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

Required Certification/Licensure:

  • National certification (NCCT) within 12 months of hire if hired following the completion of an approved Essentia Health apprenticeship program

East Market:

  • Nothing noted

East Brainerd Lakes:

  • Certified as a Surgical Technologist within one year of hire or transfer
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire

Virginia:

  • Graduate or Certification from accredited surgical technologist program or valid state license to practice practical nursing

West Market:

Fosston Location:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire


Fargo Location:

  • Certified as a Surgical Technologist is required one year after hire
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire
  • Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) upon hire

Detroit Lakes Location:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire
